For realizing multimedia home networks, DigiOn® has released a brand-new middleware solution that includes media server and media player applications. The solution is called DiXiM®, and supports the UPnP™, UPnP AV specifications and DLNA™ Guidelines, aiming to insure interoperability among various devices. The DiXiM solution is designed to allow the implementation of a home networking environment that can simply and quickly connect various digital A/V consumer devices and PCs.
With a multimedia home network, often called the digital home, as the new lifestyle, users can easily enjoy digital content stored on various appliances. DiXiM is designed to support the UPnP™/UPnP AV specifications on appliances connected via an IP network, such as Ethernet or wireless LAN. DiXiM provides an environment where the content from various digital appliances can be easily and seamlessly accessed by the user's preferred device, regardless of the different appliances and platforms on the home network. DiXiM is also compatible with the DLNA™ Guidelines defined by the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance™ ), comprised of nearly 250 companies from around the world, and DigiOn's DiXiM products are three of the first eleven DLNA CERTIFIED. products from seven companies. DiXiM is designed to operate on multiple platforms, such as Windows®, Linux®, and ITRON (planned in the first quarter of '06), and x86, MIPS, and PowerPC™ CPUs. DiXiM is an optimal solution for implementing a multimedia home network, enabling multimedia content to be accessed instantly by multimedia applications and related appliances.
